Quality criteria for quality light > Colour rendering
Colour rendering determines whether the light makes colours appear bright and vibrant or dull and soft Colour rendering - a spectrum of brilliant colours

Colour rendering determines whether the light makes colours appear bright and vibrant or dull and soft. It is a function of the lamps themselves (e.g. incandescent lamp, halogen lamp, fluorescent lamp). Lamps are divided into colour rendering categories such as 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and so on. Category 1A provides the best possible rendition of colours. A colour rendering index of 1A is always recommended for areas where people are working.
